Ann Holmes Baumer
Services for Ann Holmes Baumer, 79, of Thomasville will be held at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Rev. D.T. House will officiate. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in her hometown of Statesville, North Carolina. Mrs. Baumer passed away peacefully at Glenn Mor Nursing Home. Born on December 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Annie Hinson and Ralph Turbiville Holmes.
Ann was married to the late Erwin Gotthold Baumer. She graduated from Senior High School in Statesville; Ann then went on to attend Southern Seminary for women in Virginia. She lived for 40 years in Atlanta, where she was an active part of the community and a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church She was a dedicated member to her Garden Club, she was also a talented china painter as a part of her group the “China Dolls.” During her time in Thomasville, she was blessed by friends who welcomed her in the knitting club, and the Rambler Rose Garden Club. Ann found great pleasure in providing a home-cooked meal to her family. She will be remembered for her joyful outlook on life, her sense of humor and love for those who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Cassels Jackson and her husband, Lee of Amelia Island, FL and Susan Cassels Varnedoe, and her husband Heeth IV of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Ann Holmes Varnedoe and Heeth Varnedoe V; her sister, Gloria Holmes Long of Pinehurst, NC and her brother, Ralph Turbiville Holmes, Jr. of Asheville, NC; four nieces, Ann Battle Long of Pinehurst, NC, Forrest Bain Long of Cary, NC, Jayne Holmes Elder , of Burlington, NC, Ann Holmes Watson of Tampa, FL, and Laura Holmes Polk of Asheville, NC; and three great nieces and four great nephews.
