A private graveside service will be held for Ann Haslam Golden, 87, of Thomasville. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner. will officiate. Mrs. Golden died on Monday, March 30, at her home. Born October 10, 1921, in Marshallville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Adam Henry and Carolyn Worrill Haslam. She graduated from Fort Valley High School and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia. On March 12, 1955, she married Jackson Jack Sheffield Golden, of Thomasville, who preceded her in death. She taught sixth grade in the Thomasville city school system and later was a homemaker. She loved flowers and was a member of Briarcliff Garden Club for many years. A methodist, she served as a Pink Lady volunteer in the emergency room of Archbold Memorial Hospital. As a member of Jimmy Carter's Peanut Brigade, she enjoyed traveling over the nation during his presidential campaign.

She was foremost a loving and devoted wife and mother, and a loyal friend with a sense of fun and quick wit. An avid reader and bridge player, she loved to travel with her daughter. She raised German Shepard dogs and over her lifetime rescued many dogs and cats, giving them a loving home.

She is survived by a daughter, Della Golden Spence and husband Rodney, and a grandson, Jackson Golden Spence, of Thomasville. Other survivors include cousins, Charles Haslam, Jr. of Marshallville, Albert Haslam and wife Dottie, of Milledgeville, Jane Worrill Truscott of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Julie Worrill of Atlantic Beach, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Louise Golden, of Thomasville; nephews Jim Haslam and wife Regina, of Canton, and Jeff Golden, of Thomasville; nieces Linda Golden Moore, of Thomasville, Nita Golden Penland and husband Jim, of Winchester, TN, Charlotte Golden Rumble and husband Neal, of Dothan, AL, Louise Golden of Atlanta, Martha Golden Foster and husband Brad, of Fort Wayne, IN, Tricia Golden Blanton and husband Clayton, of Peachtree City, and Mary Golden, of Thomasville.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Adam Worrill Haslam, of Thomasville; cousins Hood Worrill, of Cleveland, Ohio and James Worrill, Jr., of Atlantic Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomasville Public Library, 210 N. Madison St., Thomasville, GA 31792.
