Graveside services for Anna Pearl Blue Matthews, 78, of Thomasville, are 10:00 am, Friday, June 8, 2007 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Arkansas St, with Rev. Dr. Dan Spencer officiating. Mrs. Matthews died June 5, 2007, at Archbold Hospital. Born September 27, 1928 in Carthage, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Calvin Benton & Pearl Evans Blue. She was married to the late Joshua David Matthews. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville, Missionary Circle, Women?s Club of Thomasville, an avid bridge player and member of the Duplicate Bridge Club, a member of Talisman Garden Club, also a member of the Garden Club of Georgia, of which she was a Master Flower show judge and a member of The Red Hat Society. She is survived by sons, David B. Matthews, Victor H. Matthews, both of Thomasville, daughter, Beverly M. McDonald, of Boston, daughters-in-law, Angela H. Matthews, Terri T. Matthews, brother, William Blue, sisters, Buna McLeod, Martha Pierce, Alicia Caison, Janet Lilly, 6 granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. An infant daughter, Lydia Kathryn Matthews, brothers, Calvin Blue, Willard Blue and sister, Sylvia Foy, precedes her in death. Mrs. Matthews was an eye donor, with the hopes of helping 4 people.
