Anne Wise

Anne Wise, 98, peacefully passed away on November 2, 2023 in the comfort of her home in Thomasville, Georgia. Born September 24, 1925, in Thomasville, GA, to the late Rosalyn and Greene Alday, Anne graduated from Thomasville High School and went on to earn her business degree from Mercer University. In 1948, Anne married Robert Urquit Wise, Sr. in a ceremony at First Baptist Church in Thomasville. For 62 years, Anne and Bob devoted their lives to each other, serving together tirelessly for various organizations in the Thomasville community. She once described Bob to her pastor as the best man God ever made, second only to Jesus. When not in Thomasville, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at their vacation home in Daytona Beach or cruising the Caribbean. For 28 years, Anne volunteered in the operating room at Archbold Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church choir for 30 years and the Sunday School department treasurer for 40 years. She was active in the Junior Service League, serving as their president. Her number one place of service was her family, whom she loved dearly. After her two children graduated and left home, she worked along side her husband in the family business, Alday True Value Hardware.

She is survived by her son and daughter, Dr. Robin Wise (Gina) and Leigh Wise Ross, her six
grandchildren, Whitney Sampson, Will Wise (Carrie), Jim Henderson (Renee), John Adam Wise (Shelbey), Jack Wise, and Katie Wise. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Tanner Slater, Rudy McCranie, Maeva and Finn Henderson, and J.C. and Neil Wise. Graveside services will be held at 4:00PM on Saturday December 16, 2023 on 8th Street in Laurel Hill Cemetery with Rev. Andy Daughtry officiating.
