In Loving Memory of Annie Ruth Hudson
February 2, 1929 - December 4, 2023
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Annie Ruth Hudson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She peacefully departed this world on December 4, 2023, in Ocala, FL. Annie Ruth was born on February 2, 1929, to her loving parents, Conrad Keller Smith and Georgia Mae (Allen) Smith.
On June 29, 1946, Annie Ruth married the love of her life, James Gary Hudson Sr. Their union was a testament to commitment and devotion, lasting throughout the years until James' passing. Annie Ruth dedicated herself to creating a nurturing and loving home, where she poured her heart into being a homemaker and in later years, retired as a sales associate for Belk Hudson, Thomasville.
Although Annie Ruth made the decision to leave high school in her senior year to begin her journey as a loving wife and mother, she never lost her thirst for knowledge and personal growth. Her faith in the Baptist community played a central role in her life, guiding her actions and providing her strength during life's challenges.
Annie Ruth derived immense joy from the simple pleasures in life. She took great pride in her green thumb, spending countless hours tending to her garden and meticulously caring for her yard. She found solace and creativity in ceramics, and found her heart singing along to the sweet melodies of gospel music. Always maintaining a clean and welcoming home, she delighted in preparing delicious meals for her family, ensuring that love and warmth filled every plate.
Family was Annie Ruth's compass and the driving force behind her existence. She will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her son, James Gary (Irma) Hudson Jr., of Harmony, Fl., as well as her ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Annie Ruth's unwavering love extended to her brother, Larry (Jean) Smith of Thomasville, who will hold her memory close to his heart. Additionally, Annie Ruth was survived by daughters-in-law Terrie (Billy) Hudson of Belleview, Fl., and Darrel (Terry) Hudson Kiernan of Palm Coast, Fl., and son-in-law Marty (Connie) Champion.
Annie Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Gary Hudson Sr., her parents, and six siblings: Florene Dawson, William (Buddy) Smith, Randal Smith, Clyde Smith, Wayne Smith, and Patricia Davis. She is now reunited her with her children, Patricia (Robert) Griffin, Terry Hudson, Connie Champion, and Billy Hudson, who preceded her in death.
Funeral services to honor the remarkable life of Annie Ruth Hudson will be held graveside on December 9, 2023, at 11 am, at Ochlocknee City Cemetery. Reverend Gary Folds will officiate the service.
Annie Ruth Hudson will forever remain in our hearts, an inspiration and a shining example of love and sacrifice. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of the divine, and may her memory continue to touch our lives, reminding us of the immeasurable power of love and family.
