Services for Mrs. Annie Prevatte Sherrod are at 2:00PM on Sunday, April 25, 2004 at First Baptist Church Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Dan Spencer and the Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate and interment will be in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Pavo, GA. Pallbearers will be Tim Sherrod, Thomas Casey, Bob Osteen, Wendell Prevatte, Marvin Prevatte, Lamar Prevatte, Larry Sherrod, Darren West, and Clark Tomlinson. Mrs. Sherrod died on April 19th at the age of 95. She was born November 10, 1908 to the late Frank and Ida Avery Prevatte. She was preceded in death by her husband James A. Sherrod. Mrs. Sherrod was a homemaker and seamstress, who made one of the first four uniforms for the Georgia State Patrol in Atlanta during the depression. She, also, worked with her husband, who founded Sherrod?s Tax Service, for over 30 years. She was a Sunday School Teacher for over 60 years, and she wrote poetry. Three of her poems will be read by her grandchildren at her funeral. She is survived by three children, Neil and Betty Sherrod of Thomasville, Allan and Mattie Sherrod of Thomasville, Stella and Tom Casey of Hoover, Alabama; six grandchildren, Lisa and Darren West of Thomasville, Tim and Robin Sherrod of Thomasville, Susan Sherrod of Thomasville, Alaina and Clark Tomlinson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Thomas and Jennifer Casey of Washington, D.C., and Jennifer Casey of Hoover, Alabama. She is, also, survived by a brother, F. M. and Lois Prevatte of Jacksonville, Fla., and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8PM on Saturday.
