Arthur "Woody" Horwell

Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, November 18, 2023 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Woody Horwell was born on April 26, 1943, son of Dr. Richard and Barbara Horwell. He grew up and was educated in Yardley, Pennsylvania. Woody served as a medical corpsman in the U.S. Navy. After moving to Thomasville in the 90's, Woody loved working in the store, Table Works Plus, that he and Spencer owned together. His Studebaker, "Dewey", was a familiar site around Thomasville. Woody was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church where he served in various roles. He was famous for his baked goodies and hospitality. Woody loved his family, his church and his community. He also loved a good story and had a soft spot for animals. Woody passed peacefully at home on August 22, with Spencer by his side. Woody is survived by Spencer Thompson and Spencer's two daughters, Vera Lynn (Kevin) Rogers and Karen Lee (Tim) Middleton, his brother, Brice Horwell and his two nephews Rich and Jay. Woody will always be remembered for his kind heart and endless generosity. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
