Graveside services for Mr. Arthur R. Robinson, 86, of Thomasville, is at 10:00AM on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on 15th Street. Father Charles Bennett will officiate. Mr. Robinson died on June 29, 2006 in his home at Southern Pines Retirement Community. Mr. Robinson was born in Pelham, Georgia on December 24, 1919 to Claudia and Arthur P. Robinson. The family moved to Thomasville when he was five and established a grocery store. Mr. Robinson graduated from Thomasville High School in 1938; upon graduation from Draughon School of Commerce, he returned to Thomasville and was the Bookkeeper for Thomas Drug Store. On November 24, 1940, Mr. Robinson married Eloise Floyd of Thomasville. Mr. Robinson enlisted in the United States Navy in June 1943, and received an Honorable Discharge in February 1946. During his tour of duty with the US Navy, Mr. Robinson served aboard PT Boat 185 in the South Pacific. Mr. Robinson was Vice President and Treasurer of Dawes Silica Mining Company, and after retiring, owned and operated Robinson Bookkeeping Service in Panacea, Florida. In 1983, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson moved to Tallahassee until her death in 1988. In 1990, Mr. Robinson returned to Thomasville and on April 3, 1993 married Juanita Minchew Faulk. She preceded him in death in February 2005. Mr. Robinson was active in the community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Thomas County and the Citizen and Southern Bank. He also served on the Board of Directors of Glen Arven Country Club. He was a Mason and a member of the Thomasville Shrine Club; the American Legion; VFW; Elk?s Club, Kiwanis Club, and most recently the Golden K Club. Mr. Robinson was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church where he was a member of the Vestry and served as Treasurer. Survivors include his daughters Dee Buzby and husband Brian of Madison, Alabama, and Lily Anne Montgomery and husband John of Boston, Georgia; and son Rex Robison and wife Julie of Boston, Georgia; grandchildren Elizabeth Singletary Hodges and husband Bert of Thomasville; David Truitt and his wife Cindy of Thomasville, Susan Buzby Barnes and husband Josh of Tampa, Florida; Karen Buzby and Robert of Summerville, South Carolina; Kristy Carter and Keith Williams of Boston, Georgia; great grandchildren Ivey and Peyton Singletary of Thomasville; and his sister, Ferne Delaney of Summerhill, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are Nita?s children, Philip Faulk, Charity Manwaring, Ellen Herring, and Boo Ivey, and their families. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Shriner?s Cripple Children?s Hospital, Hansan Temple, 1822 Palmyra Road, Albany, GA 31701.
