Arthur Simeon Townsend

A memorial service for Arthur Simeon Townsend, 72, of Thomasville will be held at 10AM Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Springhill Methodist Church in Metcalf, where he was a member. Mr. Townsend passed away May 16, 2023 at Archbold Hospital. Born October 27, 1950 in Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of the late Wallace Townsend and E. Evelyn Stringer Townsend. He was married to Janet Livingston Townsend, just celebrating their 46th anniversary. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a retired industrial engineer. He earned a masters degree at University of South Florida and was in the Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a Bluegrass music enthusiast, becoming a banjo player and playing wherever he lived and visited. He is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Matthew Townsend and wife Alice of Columbia, Missouri, and Ethan Townsend and grandson Forrest of Bowling Green, Kentucky; sister Paula Marczynski of Bell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Springhill Methodist Church in care of J. Hunter, 657 Funston Sigsbee Road, Moultrie, Ga 31768
