Baker Ewen Watkins, Jr.

Funeral services for Baker Ewen Watkins, Jr., 78, of Thomasville will be Monday, July 8, 2002 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. William P. Seel officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Thomasville Exchange Club. Mr. Watkins died Saturday, July 6, 2002 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. He was born on Aug. 9, 1923 in Thomas County to the late Baker Ewen Watkins Sr. and Hattie Patterson Watkins. He was the retired owner of Watkins Moving and Storage, a member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Thomasville Exchange Club for over 40 years where he served as the secrtary and treasurer for both the Exchange Club for four years and Deep South Fair Association for six years. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II. He was married on Oct. 17, 1948 in Cairo to Ethel Clark who survives. Survivors include his wife Ethel Watkins of Thomasville, son Baker Ewen Watkins III of Thomasville, daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Ronald J. Watkins Kuykendoll of Ft. Gaines, Ga., grandchildren Jenny Lind Watkins, Baker E. Beau Watkins IV, Charles Walton Walt & Tonya Killingsworth, Jr., Amelia Joyce Amy Killingsworth, Franck Michel Mich Killingsworth, great grandchildren Sabrina Michelle Killingsworth and Thomas Walton Killingsworth. He was preceeded in death by a brother Warren Calvin Watkins. In leiu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church at 225 E. Jackson St. Thomasville, Ga. 31792.
