Barbara Graham Riddle of Thomasville, Georgia went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 19, 2024. She was a strong woman of faith as well as a woman of strong faith. She loved her family well, served her community and her church, and never met a stranger.
Barbara was born in Williamsburg County, South Carolina on July 3, 1932 to the former Grace O. Sturkie and George Morris Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life for 64 wonderful years, Robert Mack Riddle (Bob).
She grew up in Columbia, S. C. where she and her family were active members of Shandon Presbyterian Church, which is where she met Bob. After graduating from Dreher High School, she attended Winthrope College in Rock Hill, S.C.
The Riddles lived in several different cities throughout the southeast during their marriage due to Bob's career. In 1966 they moved to Thomasville, fell in love with the people and the town, and decided to make it their lifelong home.
Barbara was a longtime member of Thomasville First Presbyterian Church. Over the years she served as a Sunday School Teacher, was active in the Women's Ministries, served as an Elder, visited the elderly, and welcomed anyone and everyone who walked through the doors. She loved her Lord and her church!
When her children were all in school Barbara worked as a Teacher Assistant at Balfour Elementary. Later on, she took up golf and gardening and was very successful at both. She also volunteered at Archbold Memorial Hospital. As her family grew, she always looked forward to spending time with them during holidays and birthdays, attending various activities, programs, ballgames, etc. but she especially loved the family beach trips. Next to God, family was everything!
Barbara is survived by her four children Jeanne Thompson (John) of Ochlocknee, GA, Anne Branan (Bud) of Alpharetta, GA, Robin Shiver (Allen) of Thomasville, GA, and Rob Riddle (Melanie) of Chattanooga, TN; eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: First Presbyterian Church, 225 E. Jackson St., Thomasville, GA 31792 or Archbold Hospice, 400 Old Albany Rd., Thomasville, GA 31792.
