Bera Earnest Pitts, Jr., 77 of Thomasville, Georgia passed away January 11, 2016 at Archbold Hospital. Born June 5, 1938 in Perry, Florida, he was the son of the late Bera Earnest Pitts, Sr., and Sybil Adkins Pitts. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Paula Gibbs Pitts, whom he married in Coral Gables, Florida. Mr. Pitts was a retired police captain with the Miami-Dade Metro Police Department and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a very honorable and ethical man who was passionate about his family and always made himself available to help people. He enjoyed building houses, hydroponic farming, reading, history, fishing and frog hunting. Mr. Pitts also enjoyed reunions with other retired Miami-Dade officers who lived in the Tallahassee/Thomasville area. Other survivors include his children, Melanie Pitts and husband Armando Pina of Chandler, Arizona and Devin Pitts of Tallahassee, Florida; brother, Doug Pitts and wife Gloria of Miami, Florida and his pet dog, Angel Grace. The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
