Bernice L. "Wynette" Banister passed away Tuesday, November 29 at Camellia Gardens of Life Center after a lengthy illness. Born March 13, 1938 to the late Oswald and Christine Lewis, she will be best remembered by all of the customers she helped while working at Jacobs drug store, Kres Jewelers, Neels department store, and Penny's. She always put her customers first. When she retired, she took loving care of her husband, Don Banister, while he farmed outside of Coolidge until his passing in August of 2017. She is survived by her daughter Cindy Houk Herndon (Rick Kirby) Atlanta, Georgia, two stepdaughters Donna Sellars (Chris) Thomasville, Georgia and Leah Busbee (Alfred) Marietta, Georgia. Step grandchildren, Christina (Zack) Johnson and Austin Sellars, Matthew (Mary) Busbee, and Jennifer (John Mark) Henderson, along with 3 great-grandchildren, Katherine, Sarah and William Busbee, and her beloved Yorkiepoo, Molly. The family would like to thank Alma Griffin, her loyal caretaker and companion for the last 5 years as well as Linda Spears who provided her nighttime care for the past 2 years. Graveside services will be held Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Big Ochlocknee Baptist Church Cemetery, Bee Line Road, Coolidge.
