Graveside services for Betty Weekley Denney of Barwick will be held at 2:00 PM at Rosewood Cemetery in Barwick on Tuesday, April 30th with Jimmy Clanton officiating. Born on February 26, 1932, in Varnville, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Eva Dyches Weekley and William Gelzner Weekley. Betty met the love of her life, Hampton Verlyn Denney while he was Cattle Manager at Brays Island Plantation in South Carolina and they soon married. They later relocated to Thomasville where Verlyn was Cattle Manager at Sinkola Plantation. Eventually, they settled near Barwick on Lazy Lake Farm. They were active members of First United Methodist Church in Thomasville. Betty was gifted in arranging flowers and was an active member of Briarcliff Garden Club where she won numerous awards over the years. Betty and Verlyn loved to entertain family and friends which was quite often a fish fry down by the lake at their residence. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Lynn and Charles Toles of Barwick; grandchildren Charles Denney Toles and Tyler Weekley Toles, and her beloved little dog Bella. Her family will receive friends after the service at her daughter’s residence at 6866 Coffee Road in Barwick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomasville Humane Society.
