Betty Louise Loomis DePew, 91, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2019 in Marietta, Georgia. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the Chapel of Allen and Allen Funeral Home followed by Interment at Laurel Hill Cemetey. The family will receive friends 1-2pm, prior to the service. Born in Waverly, New York on December 30, 1927 to Willis H. and Marie W. Loomis, Betty graduated from Waverly High School and attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA to study Fashion Merchandising. Betty was an elegant, talented and beautiful lady. She held several pageant titles, including Miss Waverly, and modeled for department stores in Tampa, Florida. Betty and Ralph DePew married on September 6, 1947. Moving frequently because of Ralph’s sales career, they made Thomasville their final home in 1968. Continuing in the field of fashion and design, Betty worked in Friedlanders, Al Dixons, owned two fabric stores, and designed and made clothes for family and friends. She was an avid reader and worked for the Thomasville Public Library System repairing books. Betty also loved her extensive travels with Ralph, family gatherings and time with friends in the community. Betty and Ralph were former members of the First Presbyterian Church and Glen Arven County Club of Thomasville. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Ralph DePew, her parents, and her son-in-law, Neil Morgan. She is survived by her daughter, Devony Morgan of Marietta, Georgia; son, Keith DePew and his wife, Jamie, of Saint Johns, Florida; grandchildren Tracy and Matt Baker, Anna Morgan and her fiancé Pete D’Amore, Amanda and Ryan Wilson, Stephanie and RJ Maurice, Katie and Lydon Lewis; great-grandchildren Clark and Liam Wilson, Colton and Harper June Maurice and Banks Baker; and sister Evelyn Loomis Brady of Spartanburg, South Carolina. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the friends and staff at Southern Pines Senior Living Community during the DePews’ three year residency for all their loving care and kindness – especially those that traveled to visit Betty during her illness.
