Betty Jean Ellis

Services for Betty Jean Ellis, 90, of Thomasville, will be held at 11AM Monday, September 25, 2023, at Dawson Street Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Miller officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11AM in the sanctuary. Betty Jean Ellis passed away on September 22, 2023 at Legacy Village. Born on November 2, 1932 in Miami, Fl., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Christ, Jr. and Mary Alice Pinder Jensen. Betty graduated from Miami Jackson High School and worked at Belk for 24 years as a personnel manager. She was an active member of Dawson Street Baptist Church and loved her Sunday School class. She enjoyed supporting and was actively involved in her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities, including ballet, softball, and soccer. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Betty is survived by children Susan Sangster (Jerry) of DeBary, Fl., Tommy Ellis of Jacksonville, Fl., and Tawnya McNair (Tim) of Brunswick, Ga.; grandchildren Shannon Stuckey, Stephanie Mackiewicz (Mike), Luke McNair (Brooke) and Adam McNair; great-grandchildren Will, Andee, Elizabeth, Aiden, Rylee, and Hayden; sister Sharon Sutphin of Thomasville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Ellis Jr.
