Graveside services for Betty Kelley Harden, 88 of Boston, Georgia will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Boston City Cemetery.
The Reverend Mitch Clements will officiate. Mrs. Harden passed away on March 3, 2017 at her home. Born February 10, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Kelley and Willie Margaret Pace Kelley. She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Howard E. Harden. They were married February 9, 1947 in Boston at the home of her beloved great aunt and uncle, Nellie and Ed Norton.
She was a member of Summerhill Baptist Church and was retired from Archbold Hospital where she worked in the EKG department. Her favorite pastimes were camping at Julian Price Park, vacationing for thirty years at Raymond’s Campground near Lake Burton, and loving her terriers. She decorated elaborate cakes for birthdays and weddings. She enjoyed sewing and playing the piano by ear.
She is survived by her daughters Carol Sheftall (Will) of Thomasville and Suzanne Knapp (Jim) of McDonough; her son Edward Harden (Judy) of Boston; six grandchildren: Mary Beth Vermeer (Lucas), William Sheftall (Allison), Kelley Harden, John Knapp, Whitney Shade (Brent), and Bryant Harden; and three great grandchildren: Grace and Cole Vermeer, and Braxton Shade. She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Kelley Harden.
