Betty M. Courson

A celebration of the life of Betty Ann Meares Courson 67, of Thomasville will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, June 05, 2012, at Northwoods Church of God where she was a member. Officiating will be Rev. Damian Salazar pastor, Rev. Dan Tomberlin, and Rev. David Ellis. The burial will be Wednesday, June 06, 2012, in Winter Haven, Fl. Betty Ann passed away peacefully at her home on June 02, 2012. Born June 10, 1944 in Clearwater, Fl, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Maudelle Meares. She was a loving wife for 47 years to Roger Dale Courson. She was a graduate of Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. There she was an original member of Lee Singers and Delta Zeta Tau. She also graduated from University of Florida in Gainesville. She loved singing and playing the piano, organ, and accordion. Betty was choir director at Northwoods Church of God for many years where she also accompanied the choir, ensembles, quartets, and many soloists. She also taught Sunday School and Children's Church for many years. She was employed by Thomas County Board of Education as guidance counselor for 26 years. She was a devoted sister to Mary Meares of Thomasville and to her brother, Paul Norman Meares, deceased. Betty loved children and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. Most of all she loved and worshiped her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
