A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Boston Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 4 at 2pm. The family will receive friends in the Blue House immediately following the service. Mrs. Rowland died March 2, 2006 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, GA. Born October 29, 1924 in Anaheim, CA. she was the daughter of the late Carl and Jane Monahan. She was the widow of the late 1st Lt E Kane Barrett 1949 and the widow of the late retired Lt. Col. Hampton Rowland, Jr. 1991. Mrs. Rowland was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens, GA where she was active in the Presbyterian Ladies Circle, and former member of Boston Presbyterian Church, Boston, GA where she served as an elder and treasurer. She was a graduate of Whittier Union High School in Whittier, CA Class of 1942 and a graduate of Woodbury Business College of Los Angeles, CA. Mrs. Rowland was an active member in the Republican Party and a member of Eastern Star. She served as a Brownie Scout Leader, and a volunteer at Archbold Memorial Hospital. She was the Thomas County Registrar and worked in the Thomas County Tax Collector?s Office in the 70?s. Survivors include daughter, Michaelyn Rowland Cooke of Thomasville, GA; daughter, Monnette Twink Monahan of Boston, GA; son, Hampton Rowland III Rika of Fort Myers, FL; brother, retired Naval Capt. Gerald E. Monahan Mary Ann of Virginia Beach, VA; Brother-in-Law, Jack Lamb Rowland Jeffie of Athens; granddaughter, Jeannie Ray Tilley of Baconton, GA; grandson, Jack Chantel Andrews of Saratoga Springs, UT; granddaughter, Anni Roger McClellan of Tampa, FL; granddaughter, Kassidy Edwards of Fort Myers, FL. Eight great grandchildren Dustin, Steffan, Elenye, Corbin, Maddox, Connor, EmmaGrace, and Mayson, several family members in Athens, GA and Virginia and her beloved poodle, Cody. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to consider a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer?s Association or the Breast Cancer Foundation.
