Betty Ann Monger, 96, of Harrisonburg, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, in Thomasville, Georgia.
She was born October 13, 1922, in Harrisonburg, VA and was the daughter of the late James A. and Annie Wiener Conrad.
On January 27, 1946, she married John Henry Monger, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2011. She was also predeceased by siblings Barbara Larcombe and James Conrad and a son-in-law, Richard Newman. Betty graduated from Madison College with a degree in chemistry. She worked as a chemist for DuPont during World War II. She also enjoyed playing golf at Spotswood Country Club, was an avid bridge player and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children Margaret LaRosa (Dennis) of Thomasville, GA, John Monger (Ann) of Mount Crawford, VA, Lois Newman of Jourdanton, TX, James Monger (Dawn) of Singers Glen, VA and Tina Allen of Virginia Beach, VA; 9 grandchildren, David Newman, Carrie Gray, Christina Scogin, Jay Monger, Matthew Monger, Rebecca Alexander, JM Monger, Bryce Allen and Brock Allen and 17 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at the Spotswood Country Club in Harrisonburg following the Memorial Service.
