Betty Jo Palmer, born on August 20, 1940, in Ochlocknee, Georgia, peacefully passed away on July 24, 2026, in Thomasville, Georgia. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many.
Betty graduated as a member of the inaugural class of Central High School in 1959. Throughout her life, she cultivated a passion for cooking, often creating delightful meals for family and friends. Her love for the community was evident in her enjoyment of the Old South Day festivities in Ochlocknee, and she loved watching the traditional syrup-making process.
Betty is survived by her devoted son, Arnold "Arnie" Palmer, grandson Ben Palmer (Kaitlyn), and her precious great-granddaughter, Shelby Palmer. She is also survived by her siblings, D.L. Scoggins (Tracy) of Thomasville and J.R. Scoggins (Diane) of Ellijay, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Alvis Scoggins, her husband, Leon Palmer, son Bennie Palmer Jr., and sister Bobbie Scoggins Hall.
