Bettye Jo Carlton

Services for Bettye Jo Carlton, 90 of Coolidge, will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Coolidge Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Randy Fields will officiate and private interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Carlton passed away February 22, 2019 at Camellia Gardens. Born February 10, 1929 in Barwick, she was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas Griffin and Lucille Moncrief Griffin. She had been married to Horace Wright Carlton, who preceded her in death in 1986. She was a librarian assistant at Garrison Pilcher Elementary School and was a member of Coolidge Memorial Baptist Church where she sang in the adult choir. She loved to travel and was an avid supporter of local sports. She was a devoted mother who blessed her children and grandchildren with a strong Christian faith and love of family. Her legacy will be her family who will continue to honor her memory and life lessons. She is survived by her children, Charlesy Jo Carlton Davis and husband Lendon, Daniel W. Carlton and wife Becky all of Coolidge and David M. Carlton of Thomasville and preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) D. Carlton of Coolidge; grandchildren, Michael & Becca Davis, Luke & Mary Davis, Matthew & Nichole Carlton, Thomas & Jennifer Carlton, Kayla Carlton and Jacob Carlton; great-grandchildren, Nathan Davis, Jaxon Davis, Claire Carlton, Mason Carlton, Jackson Carlton and Brooks Carlton. The family will receive friends 3-4 pm, before the service at the church.
