Betty Lou Eldridge Hathaway
Services for Betty Lou Eldridge Hathaway, 70, of Thomasville, are at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2009, at First Baptist Church in the Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery on Oklahoma Street. Active pallbearers are Gerald Delaney, Jerry Studdard, Bill Kitchens, Ken Ferrell, Max Hancock and Francis Lott. Mrs. Hathaway died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born February 16, 1939, in Electric Mills, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Leon Gill and Ethel Knight Eldridge. On July 25, 1958, in Thomasville, she married James Hathaway, who survives. She was a former secretary for the Chamber of Commerce and for Jerger Elementary School. She was also a former Ladies Editor for the Thomasville Times Enterprise. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Junior Service League. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James Gill and Kay R. Hathaway of Pavo; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Ann and Stan Caldwell of Thomasville, Lynn and Jeff Betros of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Katie Herndon, John Herndon and wife, Jessica, Haley Elizabeth Caldwell, Scott, Taylor and Austin Betros; special friend and caregiver, Lajuana Ansley.
