Beverly Matthews McDonald, 74, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Beverly was born October 10, 1948 in Southern Pines, North Carolina to Joshua David (J.D.) Matthews and Anna Blue Matthews.
Beverly grew up in Southern Pines, N.C. until moving to Thomasville with her family around the age of 13. She graduated from Thomasville High School in 1966 and went on to attend North Florida Junior College in Madison, FL.
For many years she helped run the family-owned business, Matthews Farms and Truck Brokerage. Later, she became part owner of Matthew's Self Storage as well as a dealer for Uhaul Rentals.
She is survived by her daughter Lydia (Ryan) Davis; grandson Cole Davis; brother Victor Matthews; along with numerous nieces and her close friend Gene Cannon.
She is preceded in death by husband Gene McDonald; parents J.D. and Anna Matthews; baby sister Lydia Matthews and brother David Matthews.
The family plans to hold a private Celebration of Life gathering at a later date.
