Graveside services for Bill Johnson Gilliam of Thomasville will be at 10:00AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Tennessee Street. Rev. Weyman Cleveland, Jimmy Keyton and Rev. Mike Jones will officiate. Mr. Gilliam died Sunday, June 16, 2002 in Benton, Kentucky. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Thomasville where he was a lay speaker, Past President of Alpha Tau Omega Faternity at the University of Kentucky, President of Chamber of Commerce in 1976, Gideon, Past member of Rotary Club. He was on the Board for United Way,Vashti and Salvation Army. He was the son of the late Otis & Louise Gilliam. He was married to Barbara Shurtz Gilliam of Thomasville who survives. Other survivors include son, Stephan S. Gilliam of Thomasville, son & daughter-in-law David W. & Connie Gilliam of Columbia, SC, daughter, Heather G. Peterson of Thomasville, sister, Eileen Gilliam Usrey of Benton, KY, nephew, Dennis Dunn of Benton, KY, grandchildren, Sarah & Stephanie Gilliam, Walker Peterson and Abby & Wesley Gilliam. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. In Leiu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gideons, P.O. Box 2361, Thomasville, GA 31799.
