Billie Matilda Schneebeli was born July 11, 1921 in Belzoni, MS to parents Winifred McLain Bradley and Fred Bradley Sr. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her parents, her sisters – Norma Bradley Murphy and Winifred Bradley Tuck and a brother, Fred Bradley Jr
She grew up in Thomasville and attended Thomas County schools and graduated from Thomasville High School, Class of 1938. Billie attended and graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA. Upon graduation, she received orders to report for active duty as 1st Lieutenant, Army Medical Spec Corps, WWII. She received the decorations of the American Campaign Medal and he WWII Victory Medal upon her discharge on July 11, 1946.
She met and married Alfred Ashton Schneebeli II during the war and they had three children – Deborah Schneebeli, Alfred Schneebeli III and Denise Schneebeli who were raised in Thomasville and all graduated from Thomasville High School where they made life long friends who knew Ms. Schneebeli well. Her house was always home to one and all.
Ms. Schneebeli began her career in Thomasville as the dietitian at Archibold Hospital. She was then hired by Southwestern State Hospital as the Food Service Director where she enjoyed her career until 1989 when she retired. After retirement, Billie lived in Thomasville until her passing on Monday morning, April 25. She enjoyed many active years traveling and enjoying her friends and family.
Billie Schneebeli is survived by her two daughters, Denise Muir and Deborah Schneebeli, a granddaughter, Cassie Muir Grilo, and a great grandchild, Levi Grilo. She was predeceased by her son, Alfred Schneebeli.
Services will be graveside at Laurel Hill Cemetery, 600-700 E. Jackson St, Row 4, Thomasville, this Thursday, April 28, at 10:00am. The gravesite may also be accessed from Remington Avenue. Following a short service, everyone is invited to join the family for remembering and food and drink.
