Graveside services for Bill J. Coble will be held at 9:00AM on Sunday July 30. 2017 at Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith Cemetery in Faith, North Carolina, with Rev. Richard Myers officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5:00-7:00PM at Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith. Mr. Coble passed away on Sunday July 23, 2017 at Legacy Village in Thomasville, Ga. Born on May 1, 1932 in Kannapolis, NC, he was the son of the late George F. Coble Sr. and Louise Blackwelder Coble. Mr. Coble was a graduate of Cannon High School in Kannapolis, NC before graduating college from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Dayton, VA and Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. He served in the United States Marine Corps where he played in the Marine Corp Band. His love of music led his career in teaching music where he worked as the band director at Bessemer City High School and East Rowan High School where he was the first band director. He later retired as a Music Therapist at Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. He was a member of Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith in Faith NC, where he served as a deacon, on the Consistory Board, and as a Youth Leader. He was also a member of the Lions Club and Civitan Club. His hobbies were music, woodworking, reading, traveling, and his family and most especially his granddaughters. On March 28, 1964 in Rowan County NC, he married Carolyn Smith Coble, who survives, and was the daughter of the late Rufus and Virginia Stephenson Smith. Other survivors include his daughter Karen Coble Myhre Farmer and her husband Keith of Thomasville, GA; granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Myhre and Anna Coble Myhre; sisters Mary Ella Mitchell of Kannapolis, NC, and Margie Eddy of Salisbury, NC; sister and brother-in-law Lynda and Gerald Smith of Willow Spring, NC; sisters-in-law Dottie B. Coble of Kannapolis, NC, Jean Smith of Angier NC, Martha Adams of Fuquay-Varina, NC; brother-in-law Dr. & Mrs. Tim Dickens of Rockville, MD; extended family Jean Fisher McCombs family of Faith, NC, and J. Jay Myhre of Thomasville, Ga. He was preceded in death by brothers, G.F. Coble Jr, Fred A. Coble: sister, Nancy Harper; sisters-in-law Helen S. Piland, Judi S. Dickens, Aileen Coble; extended family W. Eugene McCombs, Dallas Harper, Charles Mitchell, Bill Piland, Newell Smith, Maynard Smith, Charles Smith, David Smith and George Eddy. His family asks that no flowers be sent and please make a donation in his honor to his favorite organization that helps children with cleft lip and cleft palate.
