Billy Earl Fort, age 87, departed from us on November 10, 2021 to enter the gates of heaven. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenda and brother-in-law, Stanley Beaty, several nieces and nephews as well as special friends, Carl and Tish Elston.
Billy was a gentle, soft-spoken man. He was of the Methodist faith and grew up in church at Boiling Springs Methodist Church in Dublin. He enjoyed playing gospel hymns by ear on the piano and played for Sunday school when needed.
Billy devoted his life to work in the medical field, serving as director of medical records at hospitals in Florida and Georgia. He was instrumental in setting up hospitals in Saudi Arabia as well and spoke often of his work there. Billy made lasting relationships with his work family and cared for a co-worker when she could no longer care for herself.
Billy enjoyed a good pipe with a glass of Scotch or bourbon while sitting outside on his patio. He and Glenda loved to eat out and try new restaurants. Billy especially loved his sweet treats. He was fond of dogs and had two special Scotties, Sam and Bonnie. He enjoyed football, baseball, and frequented the Smoky Mountains in the fall.
He was kind and loving to all those he encountered. Billy befriended those in need often. He made new friends during his final season of life which he treasured.
Graveside services are Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Pavo Lebanon Cemetery.
