Services for Billy Frank Smith, 76, of Boston, are 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Hahira. The Rev. Jimmy Slater will officiate. Pallbearers are Ray Brumbley, Brandon Brady, Timothy Adams, Joey Barrows, Jimmy Clark and Jacob Lamb. Mr. Smith passed away August 8, 2010 at the Veterans hospital in Lake City. Born January 12, 1934 in Swainsboro, he was the son of the late Wellborn Hanes Jimmie Smith and Lessie Mae Farmer Smith. He was married to Carolyn A Smith who preceded him in death. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Swainsboro High School. A retired Sgt with the United States Marines where he served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and received a medal for good conduct, was a member of DAV, VFW, and was a very enthusiastic Braves fan as well as NASCAR. Billy loved his baseball and Dale Earnhardt as much as anything. Survivors include children and their spouses, Christopher & Janie Abrams, Deann & Tom Hyslop and Kevin & Tammy Newsome; grandchildren, Lee Abrams, Stephen Hyslop, Eric Hyslop, Joshua Bell, Thomas Rogers, Lewis Graham, Devin Newsome, Alex Newsome and Billy Newsome; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Jimmy F Smith; nieces and nephews, Clay & Lynn Smith, Steve & Janice Smith, Sandy Ballance, Mike & Wendy Sims and LeiAnn & Wendell Powell. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Nelson. The family will receive friends 1-2 pm before the service today. Guests may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com
