Services for Billy M. Holbert of Thomasville are at 11:00AM Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor, the Rev. Waymon Cleveland, the Rev. Bob Dixon and the Rev. Burns Willis will officiate and interment is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Holbert died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at his residence. Active pallbearers will be his nephews and honorary pallbearers will be the Lawson Neel sunday school class of First United Methodist Church where he was a member. Born on November 1, 1930 in Madison Co., Tennessee, he was the son of the late Willie and Tressie Holbert. He was reared in a christian home and maintained these principles throughout his life. He was drafted into the military in 1950 and immediately trained as a gunner on the B-29 Bomber aircraft. He soon went into pilot and navigator training and flew for the Air Force for 21 years. Following his Military duty, he spent 17 years in the industrial paint industry in management and sales management positions. For the last 14 years he was in the life and health insurance business as the owner of Bill Holbert Insurance. He married the love of his life, Joyce Elizabeth Weaver in Greenville, S.C. in August 1958. Survivors include his wife Joyce; his children Michael E., Ricky E., and Karen E.; sisters and brothers-in-law Martha and Robert Graves, Raymell and Kenneth Cisco, Genell and Jimmy Patterson; brothers and sisters-in-law Ernest and Pat Holbert, Paul and Diane Holbert; brother Robert Holbert. Mr. Holbert was a humble, loving person who adored his wife and children. He was an avid golfer for 40 years and his golfing friends, as well as members of his church family were very important to him. The biggest influence on his life was God?s love and what Jesus did for all of us. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 975, Thomasville, GA, 31792, Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center, 116 Mimosa Drive, Thomasville, GA 31792 or to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Guest may sign the online register book at www.allenfh.com .
