Bobby Eugene Griner, of Thomasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025 at the age of 76. He was born on May 12, 1948 in Tifton, Georgia to William E. and Melba J. Griner. Bobby grew up in the South Georgia communities of Adel, Lenox and Nashville, Georgia. In his early teens, he spent summers in Daytona, Florida, with his maternal grandparents which was where he met the love of his life, Eileen. They spent many summer days playing kick the can together and over time they knew they were meant to be together forever. At the age of 19, he joined the U.S. Army and began his career in power plant operations. On September 14, 1968, Bobby married the late Eileen Yvonne Scott and they began their married life together overseas in Germany. After leaving the military, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he continued his career in power plant operations with the Jacksonville Electric Authority for the next 27 years. Bobby and Eileen raised their three girls and built a life based on laughing, love and family before relocating to Thomasville in 1992. After retiring from JEA in 1998, he flourished in the community and enjoyed working part time as both a facilities specialist for several health care facilities and a wagon driver on a local plantation. Bobby and Eileen were both members of Friendship Baptist Church in Metcalfe but more recently attended First Newark Baptist Church in Thomasville. Bobby is survived by his beloved daughters, Melissa Porter (Keith) of Crawfordville, Florida, Kristina Slaton (Shane) of Metcalfe, and Dana Twehues (Daniel)of Thomasville, Georgia. He was a proud grandfather to Matthew Porter (Jillian), Kyle Porter (Danielle), Taylor Acrey, and Bobby Daniel Twehues. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Griner and nephews Travis and Troy of Byron, Georgia. He also has a host of cousins across South Georgia. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eileen, his parents, William and Melba Griner, his sister, Peggy Griner and sister-in-law, Maie Griner. The family will receive friends at a visitation held on Tuesday, March 4 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Allen & Allen and a memorial service will be held in the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel on Wednesday, March 5 at 11:00am.
