Bradley Nicholas Gaupp - devoted son, loving brother, and friend of many - passed away on September 29, 2022 at the age of 22 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Bradley was born to Brian and Jill Gaupp in Thomasville, Georgia on November 2, 1999. He graduated from Thomasville High School in 2018.
Upon graduation, Bradley took a job with Sweet Grass Dairy in Thomasville, Georgia and later with GS Services in Bainbridge, Georgia.
In 2020, Bradley moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to experience new career vistas as a Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) programmer with U.S. Bottlers Machinery Company. As a CNC programmer, Bradley worked with machinery to cut raw materials into functional items. From interpreting project blueprints to designing programs, he excelled at the exacting nature of his work and earned the respect of many of his peers.
Bradley’s interests and talents were vast and varied.
He was a lover of sports. On most weekends, you could find him on the golf course or at the shooting range, perfecting his swing and honing his aim. He was also an online gamer, fervently conquering the battlefields and otherworldly realms of his virtual reality and gaming systems. Bradley played soccer most of his life, but his most revered fútbol pastime was cheering on his favorite team, Juventus Football Club. Always donning their black and white regalia, he was a proud fan and let the world know it.
Bradley had a creative spirit. Taking up the cello in 6th grade, he played the classics beautifully but never missed an opportunity to incorporate some good old rock n’ roll into his musical selections. He also had a keen eye for art. He enjoyed drawing and designing but found even greater joy in gifting his creations to those he loved.
An altruistic adventurer, Bradley generously gave back to his community through his love of the outdoors and animals. Bradley was an Eagle Scout with Troop 306 and elected member of the Order of the Arrow with Semilachee Lodge 239. Throughout his time with scouts, he went on multiple outdoor camping, hiking, fishing, and boating adventures. He happily mentored younger scouts and always went out of his way to help community members in need. His deep love for animals was evident in the way he cared for all creatures great and small. He loved spending a Saturday afternoon with his two dogs, Honey and Roni, and cat, Maca.
He was an active member of Saint Augustine Catholic Church, regularly volunteering as an altar server and guest cellist but also filling in wherever else he was needed.
Everyone who knew Bradley felt his big heart and kindhearted nature. He never hesitated to let people know that he loved them, and he will continue to remain a bright light in our lives everyday.
Bradley is survived by his parents, Brian and Jill Gaupp of Thomasville, GA; brother, Eric Gaupp (and Kimberly O’Brien) of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Bonnie Gaupp (and Mitchell Hacker) of Tallahassee, FL; and uncle, Wayne Gaupp of Dothan, AL.
“You never said I’m leaving, you never said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it, and only God knew why. A million times we needed you, a million times we cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place that no one could ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God took you home.”
