Branson (B.J.) Grovenstein

Branson (B.J.) Grovenstein, 85, passed away at Golden Living on September 09, 2014. There will be a graveside service at Barnetts Creek Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 2:00PM. Rev. Johnny Cooper will preside.
Mr. Grovenstein was born on February 05, 1929 in Thomasville, GA to parents Bartimus Joshua and Ruby Lee Smith Grovenstein, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Grovenstein graduated from Thomasville High School in 1947 and joined the U.S.Navy and served his Country until 1950. In 1950 he started working with Davis Industries of Thomasville, Ga. and worked for them 41 years until his retirement in 1991.
Mr. Grovenstein accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and served the Lord thru the Baptist Faith for many years. At the time of his death he was a member of Pineland Baptist Church. At one time he was a member of Barnetts Creek and Autreyville Baptist Church. He was also a member of Glad Tidings Assembly for a year 2013-2014.
In 1949 he married Mary Nell West and their union lasted until her death in 2003. In 2004 he married Elmira Gregory and their union lasted until her death in 2010.
On May 19, 2012 he married Tillie Walker Tapley who survives. Other survivors are his daughter Kathy Gordon (husband Fayne) of Valdosta, Georgia; four grandchildren Josh Gordon (wife Tishia) of Pensacola, Fl., Devony Kent (husband Trae), Lori Tomlinson (husband Nick) of Valdosta, Rhonda Canady (husband Shane) of Covington, Tennessee; eleven great grandchildren Kirstyn Gordon, Jackie Kent, Coby Kent, Sadie Tomlinson, Noah Tomlinson, Anslee Tomlinson, Dalton Tomlinson, Cooper Canady, BreAnna Canady, Mia Canady, and Stella Gordon; son-in-law Ronnie Lopozer (wife Brenda) of McMinnville, TN.; step daughters Sharon Turner (husband Donnie) of Autreyville, Ga., Jackie Shiess (husband Greg) of Tallahassee Fl.; three sisters-in-law Hattie Graham, Ethel Thompson (husband Lamar) of Thomasville, and Ruth Vinson of Jefferson, GA. He also leaves behind several nephews; nieces; cousins; and a host of friends.
He was a member of the South Georgia Riders Club; he attended a Men’s Bible Class at YMCA directed by Terry Powell; he was a volunteer at Thomasville Nursing and Rehab with the Jubilee Singers; and was a faithful supporter of the Pelham Jamboree Hoedown in Pelham, Ga, where he enjoyed line dancing.
He was also preceded in death by two daughters Ann Grovenstein Lopozer and Bonnie Grovenstein; three sisters Elizabeth Maddox; Helen Kitchens and Dorothy Boots.
Visitation at the Funeral Home will be private. Other visitation will be at the graveside service.
