Services for Brett Douglas Godfrey, 33 of Thomasville will be held at 11 AM, Monday, March 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Thomasville. Rev. Marty Carnes will officiate and interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mark Thigpen, Chad Hickson, Ryan Eubanks, Phillip Cerrillo, Nick Blume and Josh Agee. Honorary pallbearers are, Justin Shobert and Chris Bryant. Mr. Godfrey passed away March 17, 2017 at his residence. Born June 20, 1983 in Martinez, Georgia, he is the son of Tye Gregg Godfrey, who survives and the late Terri Turner Godfrey. He is the husband of Alison Bryant Godfrey, who survives. Brett was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Muscat, Oman, Kirkuk, Iraq and Guam and he received the Air Force Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Training Ribbon, the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global war on Terrorism Service Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Air Force Longevity Service Award and the Iraq Campaign Medal. He was a member of Allen-Cook VFW 4995, where he currently served as Judge Advocate. He was an inventory control specialist at Oil-Dri Corporation. He loved his family, friends, golfing and University of Georgia football. Other survivors include his children, Coleson Douglas Godfrey, Annalynn Elizabeth Godfrey, Olivia Belle Godfrey and Pierce Alligood Godfrey, all of Thomasville; sister, Blair Elizabeth Shobert and husband Justin of Edgefield, South Carolina; grandmother, Mamie B. Lawler of Martinez, Georgia; parents-in-law, Bart & Becky Bryant of Thomasville; brother-in-law, Chris Alligood Bryant of New Orleans, Louisiana; nephew, Tye Kent Shobert and nieces, Mackenzie Nicole Ansbro and Madison Riley Bryant, both of Orlando, Florida. He was also preceded in death by grandfather, Tyler Goodwin Godfrey and grandmother, Elizabeth Turner Langley and grandfather, Pierce Michael Turner. Donations may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation P.O. Box 759329, Baltimore, MD 21275-9329 ( www.melanoma.org ) The family will receive friends 3-5 pm, Sunday, March 19 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
