Buff Leighton Crook, our beloved daughter and sister, transitioned on February 21, 2026. She was 57 years old, a life ended far too soon. She was born in Thomasville, Ga and was a lifelong resident of Tallahassee and a proud Leon High School graduate.

Buff was one of the kindest and most genuine people you could ever meet, possessing the rare gift for making everyone feel seen. She never met a stranger; to Buff, every person was a potential friend.

As many have noted since her passing, she didn't just attend the party-she was the party. Unabashed, funny, and fiercely inclusive, with a smile that radiated love and an inner beauty that provided strength to everyone around her.

Buff's life was defined by her deep, intentional connections. Whether she was checking in on her inner circle or reaching out to friends she hadn't seen in decades, she remained a Real One.

She was a woman who cherished life's simple, meaningful moments and always ended her conversations with a sincere "I love you."

Her passions were as vibrant as her personality: her love for animals, her deep appreciation for music and all things rock 'n roll, and the unbreakable bonds formed through decades of Tallahassee history.

Buff was a master beautician, artist and jewelry maker; she had a remarkable ability to transform simple materials into works of beauty. Her creations reflected her spirit-vibrant, unique, and full of love.

She often overlooked her own resilience, yet she was a pillar of strength for her co‑workers, roommates, and the close friends who cherished her.

She is survived by her loving Mother, Hilda Crook, Brother Brett Crook (and Susan), nephew Ethan Crook, her chosen Brother, Larry Kastner, Aunt Trish Willis, and numerous cousins who all loved her dearly. She leaves behind a wide and loyal circle of lifelong friends whose love for her held with a fierce and loyal strength that stood the test of time.

She was preceded in death by her beloved step-father, Mark Ellerbee, Grandparents, Buster and Eva Mae Willis, Aunts Gwen Pillow and Deana Boullion, and Uncle Len Willis.

Her family takes comfort in the faith that she has been greeted with open arms by those who went before her, and that she is now at peace in the Lord's care.

In accordance with her wishes, a cremation has taken place. A celebration of Buff's life-unabashed, inclusive, and filled with the music and stories she loved-will be held later to be announced.
