Services for Burnette Griffin Barnes of Thomasville, known as ?Little White Haired Lady of McClellan?s? are at 11:00AM on Monday, July 3, 2006 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Don Prevatt and the Rev. Earl Justice will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Barnes died June 29 at her residence. She was born April 4, 1919 in Coolidge, GA. Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her father, Charles Thomas Griffin and birth mother Dorothy Jane Suber Griffin. She was raised by her stepmother the late Lucille Moncrief Griffin. On April 23, 1940 in Monticello, FL she married Joseph McLeod Barnes, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was the manager of McClellan?s Store from 1949 until she retired. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Gatlin Creek Baptist Church and a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Joseph McLeod, Jr. and Amanda A. Barnes of Thomasville; brother, J. T. Griffin of Valdosta, sister, Betty Jo Carlton of Thomasville; step grandchildren, Ben Jackson of Thomasville, Pamela White of Ashburn, VA, step great grandchild, Jack White and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, William Bill Griffin and France Aycock. Flower will be accepted or memorials may be made to Gatlin Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 3-5PM on Sunday at the funeral chapel. Visitors may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com .
