Graveside services for Burnice L. Turner, 94 of Thomasville will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 28, 2014 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on 16th St. Rev. Billy Majors will officiate. Mr. Turner passed away November 23, 2014 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Katherine Johnson Turner and son, James Hilton Turner, both interred in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Turner was born February 9, 1920 in Pembrooke, FL to James Hiram Turner and Mary M. (Mamie) Myrick Turner. As a child he came to Thomas County with his parents when they returned to their home here. He entered Ochlocknee Consolidated School, attended there for 11 years. There he met his high school sweetheart, Katherine Johnson. They graduated together in May 1939. Burnice and Katherine were married February 18, 1942. His work required them to live in Jacksonville, Fl. He was employed by National Farm Chemical Company as a salesman, sales manager, district manager and assistant regional manager. Following their retirement they returned to Thomasville. Both Burnice & Katherine were Baptist Christians, both taught Sunday School Bible Classes. He was an ordained deacon, a Mason, member of Scottish Rite, a Shriner, and a member of Morocco Shrine in Jacksonville, Fl. He is survived by son & daughter-in-law, Burnice L. Turner, II and Jennifer of Victoria, B.C. Canada; grandson & granddaughter-in-law, Ssgt. Dwayne White and Karen of Au Sable Forks, NY; granddaughter, Belinda Knight of Jacksonville, FL; sister & brother-in-law, Doris & Charles Tomlin of West Milton, OH; brother & sister-in-law, Glenn & Elise Turner of Central, SC and several nieces and nephews who were very, very special to him.
