Funeral services for Burrell McKenzie Griffin will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday December 13, 2014 at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Dr. Milton Gardner and Rev. Marty Carnes officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Griffin died Monday December 8, 2014 at Plantation Manor. Born on October 8, 1920 in Sarasota, Fl. he was the son of the late Thomas Earl Griffin and Mamie Waters Griffin. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. After his military service he owned and operated Burrell Griffin Service Station for many years and was also a real estate broker where he started Burrell Griffin Real Estate Brokerage. He was an active member of First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, participated in mission trips and was an active deacon. He was named an Honorary Deacon for his many years of service as a deacon. Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife of 64 years Mamie Evelyn Griffin of Thomasville. Other survivors include his daughters Julianna Bray of Ball Ground, Ga, Patricia Griffin Bryan of Hawi, HI; sister Virginia Zalumas of Thomasville; grandchildren Jonah Griffin Bryan (Sara), Michelle Bray, Marty Neville (Rich), Michael Bray Jr; numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Burrell McKenzie (Mac) Griffin, Jr. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM.
