Services for Calvin O. Cannon, 85, of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Summerhill Baptist Church. The Rev. Harold Pullen and Rev. Mitch Clements will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Calvin died May 8, 2010 at the Suites of Woodleaf. He is now resting in peace. Born July 15, 1924 in Thomas County, GA he was the son of the late David Charles and Ella Lou Jordan Cannon. Calvin served in the 447 Bombardment Group H during World War II and was stationed at Rattlesden Air Force Base, England. He was the gunner on a B17 and his group flew 35 successful missions. After World War II he left the service for a short time and then joined the Air Force. Calvin retired from the U. S. air Force in 1965 following more than 20 years of service. He then moved to Thomasville and worked at Jones Tractor Company for almost 20 years. Calvin is survived by his wife of 43 years, Minnie; daughter Holly Mark Fenlon of Orlando, FL, sons, Phillip Renee Britt of Tallahassee, FL, Michael Britt of Thomasville, GA, son-in-law, Jimmy Black of Buford, GA, sister, Estelle Mims of Boston, GA, grandchildren, James Black, Alan Black, Meredith Black Vaughn, Chris Britt, Mark Fenlon, Jr., Kayce Britt, Patrick Cannon Fenlon and great grandchildren, Macey, Kaylee and Brady. He was preceded in death by his son, Captain Bruce Alton Cannon and daughter, Betty Ann Black. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, many of who have remained very close to him throughout their lives. The family will receive friends from 3:00PM to 5:00PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Visitor may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com
