Cannon Carl Wheeler

January 23, 2001 — November 28, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cannon Carl Wheeler of Coolidge. He left us unexpectedly on November 28, 2024, at the age of 23. Cannon was born January 23, 2001, in Thomasville, Georgia to Michael Alan and Lea Christine Kitchings Wheeler. Cannon's spirit, passion for life, and dedication to the pursuits he loved will be profoundly missed by those who knew him.

Cannon was a graduate of Thomas County Central High School, class of 2019, where he laid the foundation for a promising future. He furthered his education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, earning an Associate's Degree. A dedicated member of the Merrillville Baptist Church and an attendee of Coolidge Baptist Church, Cannon exemplified the values of faith and community throughout his life.

His commitment to youth development was evident during his six years as a member of Thomas County 4-H, where he was honored as a two-time Master 4-H'er, contributing to the state modified trap high point team and earning recognition as the state high overall individual. Cannon was also an active participant in the ABAC shooting sports team and held a remarkable array of certifications, including a Federal Aviation Administration remote pilot certificate and a Georgia insurance license for property and casualty. He was diligently working towards obtaining his real estate license and a private pilot's license.

Cannon was an avid outdoorsman. He cherished his time spent in nature, particularly at Mexico Beach, the local shotgun range, and visiting his beloved grandparents. He is survived by his devoted parents, Michael Alan and Lea Christine Kitchings Wheeler, and his sister, Allie Ann Wheeler, along with his grandparents, Michael "Mickey" Wheeler (Debby), and Gene Kitchings (Shirley) as well as Phyllis Cannon Kitchings. He is also survived by his uncle, Emory Kitchings (Marsha), aunt, Julie Scott (Bryan), and several special cousins who held a significant place in his heart.

Cannon was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Ann Wheeler, and great aunts Loretta Yandle and Gladys Carr.

A celebration of Cannon's life will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Coolidge Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor John Carr officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Big Creek Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Allen and Allen Funeral Home on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The pallbearers will include Landon Norman, Jon Wynn, Peyton Greene, Asa Scott, Tyler Robinson, and Travis Clark.

In remembrance of Cannon Wheeler's life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to either Thomas County 4-H or Coolidge Baptist Church.
