Carl Anderson Upton

Services for Carl Anderson Upton, age 50 of Thomasville, will be Thursday July 18 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary. Rev. Dan Spencer and Rev. Mack Luke will officiate. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Fallin, Chad Fallin, Chris Upton, Mark Upton, Larry Barron and Andy Palmer. The son of the late Seaborn Anderson S.A. Upton and Retha Mae Tidwell Upton Muggridge, Mr. Upton was born on November 8, 1951 in Thomasville. On October 10, 1973, he married Merle Barron Upton. Mr. Upton was a retired manager for Modern Loan Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Thomasville. He was a coach for YMCA ball teams and a dedicated fan of his daughter, Blythe, softball teams. He is survived by his wife, Merle Upton, a son and daughter-in-law Carl Lyle and Renee' Upton, and a daughter Blythe Nicole Upton. He is also survived by his mother Retha Mae Upton Muggridge, step-father Elmer Muggridge, brother and sister-in-law George Allen & Kathryn Upton all of Thomasville, a sister and brother-in-law Linda Joyce & Vince Fallin of Albany and his father-in-law Eugene Barron of Pelham. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Christopher Allen Upton, Mark Anthony Upton, Heather Carrasquilla, Caitlin Collier, Caroline Upton, Michael Todd Fallin, Stephen Chad Fallin and several great nieces and great nephews. Mr. Upton was preceded in death by a son Carl Ashley Upton and his mother-in-law Ozell N. Barron. The family will receive friends at the Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel from 7 to 9 on Wednesday night.
