Carl Austin Young

Memorial services for Carl Austin Young, 81 of Cairo will be held 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at his residence, 175 Long Leaf Ln, Cairo, Ga 39828. Mr. Young passed away January 24, 2013 at Archbold Hospital. Born June 19, 1931 in Rockhill, Ga, he was the son of the late John Henry Young and Mirla Opal Pope Young. He was married to Hazel Amy Burt Young for 60 years, who survives. Mr. Young attended school in Thomasville and was known as Austin Omey. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and was owner of Young & Sons Body Shop. He played Bluegrass & Country music. Other survivors include his four children, Karen Williams, Kenny Young, Kelly Young and Carl Michael Young all of Kissimmee, Fl; sister, Daisy Wehe of Dallas; cousins, Jack Pope of Thomasville and Melvin Pope of Tallahassee, Fl; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and several other cousins, nieces and nephews.
