Carl Franklin Edwards

Carl Franklin Edwards, 87, of Thomasville GA, passed away on August 23, 2023.
Carl was born on January 30, 1936, in Thomasville GA. He graduated from Thomasville High School in 1954. He proudly served in the US Army from 1959 to 1963, stationed in Hawaii. On June 21, 1980, Carl and Ruth Singletary Cobb were married, and they were married for 43 years. For 15 years, Carl owned and operated Carl's Auto Parts in Ochlocknee GA. Carl was a Deacon at Ochlocknee Baptist Church for 15 years. Most recently, he was a member of Pine Park Baptist Church in Cairo.
He loved to hunt and fish and collect guns. He also loved watching the Braves on TV as well as college and professional football. And if you knew Carl, you know he loved the old Westerns! He also loved traveling and he and Ruth traveled to many places, including all of the states in the USA, all the provinces in Canada, and overseas to Australia, New Zealand, and the Fiji Islands. He dearly loved his wife Ruth as well as rejoiced in the love he had for his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Carl was predeceased by his parents, Aldine and Nita Edwards. He is survived by his stepchildren: step- daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Cobb (Gene Paulsson), and stepsons William S. Cobb (Jill) and Jeffrey D. Cobb (Kay), and grandchildren Elizabeth and David Paulsson (Danielle), Bailey and Davis Cobb, and Jacob and Madelaine Cobb.
To honor Carl's life, donations may be made to Pine Park Baptist Church, 3783 Pine Park Road, Cairo, GA.
Services will be handled by Allen and Allen on Saturday, September 2. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at Pine Park Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 11:00. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville, GA and will be family only.
