Funeral services for Carolyn Dekle of Thomasville will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday September 4, 2024 at Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel with Rev. Lee Waller officiating. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Dekle passed away on Sunday September 1, 2024 at Southern Pines Senior Living. Born January 2, 1938 in Meigs, Ga, she was the daughter to the late John Littleton Stanaland and Missouri Adams Stanaland. She was married to Waymon Dekle who passed away in December 2021. Mrs. Dekle was an LPN and worked for many years with Dr. Marshall Dunaway and then as a school nurse at Jerger Elementary School before retiring. She was a member of Dawson Street Baptist Church and was an active member of the Keenagers senior adult group with whom she enjoyed traveling. She also enjoyed traveling after retirement with special friends, Marie Hutcherson, Virginia Baker, and Marie Gerald. For many years, she enjoyed a weekly meal with her Sunday School Ladies Class that got together every Tuesday night. In the baking community, she was well known for her famous coconut cake. She frequented yard sales with friend, Dot Keadle, on many Saturday mornings. As an avid sports fan, she especially enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and football. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing volleyball, basketball, softball, and being part of a team with her friends. She worked with her grandchildren on technique/skills of baseball/softball/basketball. She always said a good athlete could play any sport. Her greatest joy was being a mom and grandmother and being an active part of their lives. Summers, spring/fall breaks were spent with her grandchildren camping. Thursday nights were very special to her as she always prepared a big meal for her family and enjoyed having them all together. Family get togethers were frequent at the Dekle house. Her family will miss her sunshine and will always love her “thisssssssss much”!
