Carolyn Elizabeth Gotts, 86, passed away on April 5, 2026. She was born on December 29, 1939, in Rochester, NY, to Hugh and Sophie Coyle. Carolyn was raised on a farm in Hilton, NY, and after graduating from high school, she went to work at Eastman Kodak. She later married the love of her life, Gordon Gotts. They were married for 68 years.
Throughout her life, she lived in California, Colorado, and Florida. During that time, she worked alongside her husband building custom homes. They made their final move to Georgia, where they built their home and established a business flipping houses. Carolyn lived in Thomasville for 28 years.
Carolyn loved volunteering in her church and had the opportunity to start libraries in several congregations she attended. Whenever there was a need, she was always there to help.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Sophie Coyle; her brother, Thomas Coyle; and her nephew, Todd Coyle. She is survived by her husband, Gordon; her daughter, Wanda Fitzpatrick (Jim); and her son, Kevin Gotts; as well as her grandchildren, Jimmy Fitzpatrick (Karen) and Ashley Thomas (Richard); great-grandsons, Micah and Asher Thomas; her sister-in-law, Barbra Coyle; and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn had great faith, deep devotion to her family, and a heart for service and helping others. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her and the lives she touched. The family would like to thank the staff at Legacy Plantation and the hospice team for the love and care she received. The family will hold a private celebration of her remarkable life at a later time.
