Catherine H. Lewis, 93, peacefully went to be with her Lord June 28, 2021, at Southern Pines in Thomasville, GA. She was born August 22, 1927, in Milledgeville, GA as an only child to the late Oscar P. Hodges and Annabelle Leveritte Hodges. She was married 75 years to the late James M. Lewis, Sr. She is survived by their son, Dr. James M. Lewis, Jr., and wife, Marianne, of Boston, GA, and daughter, Cathy L. Ward, and husband, Ed Ward III, of Leesburg, FL. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jamie L. Voyles (Chris) of Boston, GA, Jarrod M. Lewis (Erin) of Fort Valley, GA, Camille Ward of Signal Mt., TN, and Edgar "Tyson" Ward IV of Mt. Juliet, TN. Five great grandchildren, Wesleyan, Evie, and Whitley Hart of Boston, GA, and Addilynn and Caden Lewis of Fort Valley, GA. Catherine was an active support of her husband's ongoing army career for the first ten years of their marriage. Afterwards, they settled in Milledgeville, GA where she was an active homemaker for her family and business partner for Lewis' Barber Shop. Together they created a home life comparable to a Norman Rockwell painting. They were a team that faithfully served their church family at Hardwick Christian Church for over 40 years. A recent friend stated, "I remember the good times and the Lord does too." In 2002, Catherine and Jim relocated to Pavo, GA to be close to family. She enjoyed the quiet life of caring for her family and was gifted with cooking, sewing, crafting, and fashion skills. Her two favorite hobbies were reading and traveling. We will always have sweet memories of hearing her sing hymns while working in the kitchen, MalachI 4:2 says, "But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings." This blesses us to know that God had mercy on her aging body. Our sincere appreciation goes out to all the ones at Southern Pines and Bethany Hospice who had a hand in lovingly caring for her. There is no visitation or service planned at this time. A double memorial service will be held at a later date for her and her husband in Milledgeville, GA, at the GA Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
