An outdoor memorial service for Charles A. Smith of Pavo will be at 9:00AM on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at his residence in Pavo. Mr. Smith died July 13, 2003 at his residence. Born February 22, 1922 in Coolidge, GA., he was the son of the late Howard R. and Belle O'Neal Smith. He was married 52 years to Minnie O. McKinney who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a POW in Germany. He retired after 26 years as a Chief Master Sergeant from the Air Force, serving his last year in Vietman in 1970. Survivors include sons, Charles A. Smith, Jr. of Berlin, GA., Tony Neal Smith of Thomasville, daughters, Martha Gail Banister of Tallahassee, Fl., Patricia Crosby of Pavo, Beth Venables of Orlando, Fl. and Joy Smith of Thomasville; brothers, Dewitt Smith of Coolidge and Earl Smith of Floral City, Fl.; special friend, Jawanda Scites of Ochlocknee, GA; fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard R. Smith, Jr., sister, Helen Smith DeVane and brother, Richard Smith. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 818 Gordon Ave., Thomasville, GA. 31792 or the American Cancer Society, Inc., P.O.
