Services for Charles Edward Mims of Ochlocknee will be at 2:00PM on Monday, February 23, 2004 at Faith Baptist Church where he was a member. The Rev. Kevin Odom and the Rev. Clyde Owens will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Thomasville Police Department will be honor guards. Mr. Mims died February 19, 2004 at his home. Born April 24, 1948 he was the son of the late Wilbur Mims, Sr. and Mary Allen Mims. On May 9, 1978 in Crawfordville, Fl. he married Julie Lester Mims who survives. Mr. Mims was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a former Patrol Sergeant with the Thomasville Police Department and a Deputy Sheriff for the Thomas County Sheriff Department. Other survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Jill Mims of Thomasville; grandchildren, Jessica Browning, Austin Mims, Abigail Mims, Jackson Mims; brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Ann Mims of Lebanon, Virginia, sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Phil Duval, Rita and Amos Taylor, Sr., brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur Eugene Buddy and Barbara Mims all of Tallahassee, Florida, sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and John Russell of Whigham, GA., brother and sister-in-law, James and Jennette Mims, sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Woody Powell, brothers and sisters-in-law, Noah and Janette Mims all of Tallahassee, Florida, and Eddy Arnold and Beth Mims of Crawfordville, Florida. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and Law Enforcement will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4PM on Sunday.
