It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles (Bud) Linten Gloshen, 89, of Jennings, Florida, survived by his loving wife, Carol Wetherington Gloshen. He was born on December 22, 1934, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late George and Dot Eighmy Gloshen. Bud passed away on September 22, 2024.
Bud graduated from Eldon High School in Missouri. He served as a yardmaster for The Rock Island, Cotton Belt, and Southern Pacific Railroads until his retirement. Bud also had a passion for horticulture and was affiliated with the North American Fruit Explorers. He taught grafting classes for fruit and trees. Bud also enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Bud will be lovingly remembered by his children Dennis Gloshen (Vicki) of Erdra, KS, Daryl Gloshen (Roberta) of Ottawa, KS, Britt Wetherington (Tracy) of Boston, GA, and Robin Wetherington Purdy (Mark) of Cumming, GA, as well as his son-in-law, Larry Fish, of Lawrence, KS. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Witt Wetherington, Jackson Purdy, Emily Ditti, Natalie Gloshen, Brandon Criss (Jessica), Kyle Fish (Jenni), Matthew Fish (Chloe), Nicholas Gloshen, and Kathryn Shaffer, along with numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is additionally survived by his sister Bonnie Scott, cousin Larry Gloshen (Lynn), and brothers-in-law Richard Bonner, Ben Bonner and Joseph Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Denise Gloshen Fish, his brother-in-law Stephen Bonner, and his sister, Anna Mae Gloshen.
Bud was laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thomasville, Georiga. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in his memory.
