Hunter, fisherman, and avid UGA Alumnus, Charles Emory Rawlins, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 22, 2024. Chuck was born March 22, 1947, in Whigham, Georgia, and graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law. He was partner and owner of McCollum and Rawlins in Thomasville, Georgia, where he practiced law for 40 years. Chuck retired in 2014 and spent his time doing the four things he liked best: shooting dove, fishing for snapper and grouper in the Gulf of Mexico, spending time with loved ones, and tending to the most well-maintained lawn in Thomsville.
He is survived by his son, Jason (Tallahassee, FL), son, Matthew (Rachel) and granddaughters Olivia and Harper (Thomasville, GA), brother, Larry (Judy) of Cairo, GA, and life partner of 28 years, Pat Powell (Thomasville, GA). He was predeceased by his father, Wilmere Clark Rawlins and mother, Alma Booth Rawlins (Whigham, GA).
A quiet man of few words, he nonetheless loved his family fiercely and will be missed greatly. Birds of the air and fish of the sea need fear him no longer!
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in his honor.
